This message was sent to me: anyone with any info please contact Ian Curnow on ian@tavas.freeserve.co.uk
"Have you, or any one you know, contacted BBC Radio Cornwall, by letter ,
phone, or email, within the last three years either complaining of lack of
a Cornish element in their output or expressing a wish for more?
This could take the form of choirs, brass bands, local pop/rock groups,
traditional folk songs, speaking to locals about their lives or jobs, politics, civil rights, history, language, or any aspect of our Cornish culture. Even complaints
about the lack of Cornish voices on the radio. Send me details of what you
said and their response.
The reason I am asking is, last week at the choir festival in Truro I met
someone who, after having complained to Radio Cornball about the above, and was led to believe that he
was the only one complaining and in their words " there is no call for it "
Radio Cornwall seem to rely on the notion that individuals are in ignorance of
others asking the same questions.
Personally I have been trying for ages to get even a modicum of Cornish
element in their output during the core period and not at some unearthly
hour in the morning. I have been lied to, given completely false
information, told there is no call for it, Cornishness EXUDES from Radio
Cornwall's every pore etc. When I have left them no more room to
procrastinate they refuse to answer my letters. I have written to the
controller of local programmes in London, only to be told in so many words
to get lost.
So if you have complained along the lines above, please let me know.
Regards
Ian Curnow
